Officials play a crucial role in ensuring competitions run smoothly and fairly by upholding the technical rules of swimming.
Officials are present at all meets to help ensure the event is fair and consistent for every swimmer. By getting trained and certified through USA Swimming, you help maintain the integrity of the sport while spending time close to the action.
As a Stroke and Turn Official, your role is to observe swimmers during their races from their first arm pull after entering the water to the final touch at the finish. You ensure that each stroke, turn, and finish follows the rules. If something is incorrect, you document the infraction to maintain fairness for all competitors.
At MLST, we are committed to having a team of trained and certified officials who are registered with Pacific Swimming. Clinics are held throughout the year at various locations, and we encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities to get involved.
